9 Social Media Facts about the 2013 John Lewis Christmas Advert

1 fact coming for every day of advent... day 9.

Christmas Advertising reaches new heights

Yesterday, as a family we went to go and watch Frozen, the new Walt Disney animated production directed by Chris Buck.  What better way to end the weekend when it’s cold and the holidays are just around the corner? Before the movie started, we were shown pretty much all of the Christmas commercials from the retail giants; Tesco, Aldi, Morrision’s and of course John Lewis.

Love them or hate them, they have become part of the season and the John Lewis's Christmas advert is now one of the most discussed parts of the festive run-in. The marketing news site The Drum says John Lewis is "seeking to tug on the heartstrings". While it has touched some, it hasn't made everyone cry, notes Brand Republic. "Some 80% of the tweets praised the ad, describing it as 'cute' and 'sweet', while 5% of tweeters claimed the ad had reduced them to tears.

I came across a blog by Iain Martin (Skipedia) which offers 9 social media facts about the 2013 John Lewis Christmas Advert that I found interesting. Check it out here.
